Reisverhaal «Karst mountains and bamboo rafting in Yangshuo»

Yanshuo, finally in Chinese nature, cycling through rice fields, small villages where time stood still. Old Chinese farmers cultivating rice and other vegetables, round-shouldered. In Yangshuo I met Serres again, from the boat trip on Yangtze river.

The village is a very touristic place, with touts every 20 meters. Usually, they just know a few English words, so conversation goes like ‘Hello, Bamboo’ or ‘Hello cheaper’. Bargaining is a must, a typical Chinese hat start at about 130 yuan (+/- 15 euro) getting to 20 yuan in 30 seconds.

But despite of the never-ending touts, bargaining and the loads of tourists, Yangshuo is definitely not to miss in China. The karst mountains and the surrounding subtropical landscape is so amazing, just like the Bamboo rafting on the small Yulong-river, with beer and food selling bamboo floats every 200 meters. A part of China which I loved to see. And for the first time a tropical like heat of 32°, with a hot burning sun.
