Well we arrived in
Adelaide late afternoon and after checking into a fab hostel (really nice one if anyone’s interested the YHA one) We decided that we were a little thirsty so headed to the nearest watering hole for the one! Of course this did not stay at the one drink and we stayed all night. After a little
Limerick dancing (Neala you would have been proud) and a written conversation with Australian we headed home. The next day was spent in search for our vehicle to take us along the great ocean road. We eventually got one from standby cars a six berth camper!!! Before seeing it we already knew it would be a little larger to what we had driven before. Anyway after a quite night we headed out to pick up our transport the next day. Well i know people say size doesn't matter but god it was bit 3.5metres high to be exact. Anyway after signing our lives away and discovering that Emily Grainne and I were only ones to drive, have to say I was rather scared as never driven automatic never mind a truck. Anyway I navigated and Grainne drove the brave soldier that she is back to hostel to collect stuff and hit the road.
Well we got out of Adelaide fine and headed for Robe which was lovely seaside town and our caravan park was right on the beach really pretty and would have been even more nice expect for the bloody rain. Which forced us to stay inside after dinner and sample some of the local wine with cheese and crackers and play cards. The next day we hit the road early enough and went to Port Fairy were Grainne and I went on shipwreck self guided tour which I have to say was rather disappointing due to the fact that the tide was in and we did not see even one shipwreck. But we did see a lot of the town, which was nice. The girls found and cosy pub and stayed there. We then headed out for fodder and beverages seeing as it was Saturday night boy were we a little disappointed with what Port Fairy had to offer there was about 15 people in the “young hangout” so we went home a little unimpressed.
Anyway the next day we headed on the main part of the trip The Great Ocean road this is a stretch of road on the way to
Melbourne that runs along the coast line and has amazing scenery. We saw the twelve apostles (well there are only six now due to erosion so false advertising really) which are sea stacks, grotto, sea caves and blow holes, basically see the photos. It was like a geographical outing saw all the stuff we studied in school. It was really very pretty.
On our last night of the great ocean road trip we stayed in Apollo bay were we chilled out for the night watching T.V and eating ourselves silly in our mobile home which was the lap of luxury you could move around the camper and not touch anyone was great. The next day was the last of our road trip so after cleaning out van we headed for
Melbourne and dropped off our transport and made our way to hostel.
Well Emily will fill ye in on week in
Melbourne
Take Care
