Well as a few of ye know we all signed up for a thai cooking courses. now I am sure mothers reading this are delighted at how we are not only travelling the world but bettering ourselves while we are at it. so we were picked up form our Guesthouse at 9.30am and taken to thai market the one for the locals not the tourists. where we picked from the menu what seven dishes we wanted to make. then where our senses were bombarded with smells colours and constant thai barter. it was really an experience and I was particularly glad I had breakfast as the smell and sight of fish paste is not to pleasant. we saw the making of coconut cream and milk, picking vegtables some you would never see in ireland and then we were packed back on bus to the kitchen. our teacher for the day was thailand's version of gordon ramsey! ah no she wasn't that bad but at times pretty cross.
we started with making curry paste from scratch no uncle beans in sight. emily of course being the one into her spicy food used no less than 16 small chilles in her curry! some of us stayed on the milder side or what the thai's say tourist flavour meaning not spicy at all. we made in whole seven dishes including a salad, soup, curry and dessert. one of the favourite being the pad thai noodles with peanuts and tofu. my personal favourite was chicken with cashew.
overall it was a great day but any day where most of it is related to food it a good day!
