Travel Story «back and settled!»

Hello All!

Merry Christmas! Happy Hanukkah!

It has been too long since my last post, my appologies!

My last week in Italy was fatastic! Karl came to see me, and we were "asian tourists" as Rosalba put it.  We saw everything in Florence in one week! The Pitti Palace, the Uffizi, San Lorenzo, the Bargello, we climbed the bell tower at the Duomo! The only thing we didn't do was invade a neighboring city state!

I also found out that my final research paper for my Gothic Art class is going to be published.  No where exciting, just the universities website, but its still nice to tack onto my resume!

On Thanksgiving, my newly adopted Italian Aunt Rosalba hosted a feast of finger foods and papa al pomodoro for all 5 of my roommates, karl, and myself! It was delicious and incredible! I still can not get over how ready she and her husband were to be open and hospitable to a random american girl who was distantly connected to her.

Karl and I flew out of Italy on the same day, but from different airports.  My parents picked us up at the Atlanta airoport after we had traveled for 24 hours! The next day we had thanksgiving dinner (only three days late!) and it was time for me to unpack all of my stuff!

Since I've gotten back I have had a few visitors.  My best frined from High School, Carly, came down to see me almost immediately, and we galavanted around Chattanooga.  Not long after, the boy toy came down for nine days! I've been trying to figure out my living situation for next semester, making sure i still have a job, making sure all the paper work is filled out to transfer credits from Italia, and setting up my schedual for next semester.

In the midst of all this, i still have time to miss Italy. I haven't had much of a chance to practice my Italian, but i have been able to get in a few emails to Rosalba, though I was even late getting those out.  I have had pizza and tried to make my own pasta, its just not the same.  I have gone to churches, and they are just not as beautiful.  My Uncle Chris sent my mom an email with an old saying that went someting like "its hard to keep the kids on the farm once they've seen Paris!" It fits! I don't know when I'll be able to make it back. Between school, work, my puppy, and student loans its going to be hard, but I'm in love and know I have to do it!

If any one has gotten one of my post cards, please let me know! Everone I have talked to says that they never recieved one and I'm a little worried that I bought the wrong kind of stamp!
